Teriyaki Fried Cauliflower


I had already posted how to make homemade teriyaki sauce.




This recipe use that homemade teriyaki sauce to make teriyaki fried cauliflower. You can also use store bought teriyaki sauce. This is really simple recipe in which you fry cauliflower and coat with teriyaki sauce. This can be served with some cooked brown rice.

Teriyaki Fried Cauliflower


Ingredients Needed:

1cup Cauliflower florets
2tbsp Cornflour
A dash of Sriracha(optional)
Salt
Oil for frying
1 cup Homemade teriyaki sauce ( or more as per your taste)
Sesame seeds to garnish

Method:


Mix together cauliflower florets, cornstarch, Sriracha and salt until flour get well coated on the florets. sprinkle some water if needed.
Heat oil in the pan for deep frying the florets.
Fry the cauliflower til they are crispy.
Drain the excess oil with a paper towel
Heat  a tsp of oil in a pan. 
Add the teriyaki sauce. Add the fried cauliflower florets to it.
Saute til the sauce is well coated.
garnish with some toasted sesame seeds.

Homemade Teriyaki Sauce


Teriyaki is actually a cooking technique used in Japanese cuisine in which foods are broiled or grilled with a glaze of soy sauce, mirin, and sugar. So I never thought of making teriyaki at home. But once when I googled about teriyaki I came to know about American style teriyaki sauce which can be easily made at home. I was astonished by the result. The sauce came out so good that it can used to make chicken or any meat or vegetables. Who doesn't like nice sweet thick teriyaki sauce you get from your favorite takeout joint? It needs only a few basic ingredients and very less time.
The original recipe uses ground ginger and garlic powder. But I used fresh ginger and garlic.

How to use this sauce?

Cook or grill meat or vegetables. Heat the teriyaki sauce in a pan add the cooked vegetables or meat and mix well till sauce well coated. Enjoy.

Homemade Teriyaki Sauce

Preparation time:5 minute
Cooking time: 10 minute

Ingredients Needed:


1⁄4 cup soy sauce
1 cup water
1⁄2 tsp minced garlic
1⁄4 tsp minced ginger
5 table spoon packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon honey
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1⁄4 cup cold water

Method:


Mix soy sauce, minced ginger, garlic, brown sugar, honey and water in a sauce pan and cook on medium heat for 1-2 minutes.
Mix together cornstarch and cold water without lumps and add this to the pan.
Cook for about 4-5 minutes until sauce thickens.
If you want you can add water to make sauce thin as per your liking.

:These are gorgeous looking cookies, I fell in love with chocolate crinkle cookies by the look of it and right away decided to bake some. Chocolate crinkle cookies are best addition as a holiday cookie and here I am baking these in February 😉.
Chocolate crinkle cookies are basically made by the cookie dough ball coated with icing sugar and then baked hence giving them a crinkle look. It has a quite soft and moist cake like texture inside and a crisp texture outside.

Chocolate Crinkle Cookies


Crinkle Cookies Recipe
Preparation Time:10 min
Baking time:10-15 min
Yields: 10-12 large cookies

Ingredients needed: 

All Purpose Flour  – 1 cup
Unsweetened Cocoa Powder- 1/2 cup
Salt – 1/4 tsp
Baking Powder – 1 tsp
Sugar – 2/3 cup
Unsalted Soft Butter – 1/4 cup
Eggs – 2
Vanilla Essence – 1 tsp
Confectioners Sugar / Icing Sugar – 1/2 cup 

Method:


Take the dry ingredients - flour, salt baking powder and cocoa in a bowl and sieve or mix together and set aside.
Cream together butter and granulated sugar in a bowl til light and fluffy using a  handmixer.
Add in egg and again beat with the handmixer.
Add in vanilla essence and mix well.
Add in the flour mix and mix well using a spatula to form a lumpy mix.
Cover well with a cling wrap and refrigerate for at least 2-3 hrs.
Preheat oven to 350F and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
Make even sized balls from the dough using a tablespoon or ice cream scoops and cover generously with icing sugar.
Bake for 10-15 minutes till cookies are done.
Store in an airtight container after cooling down.


How to check crinkle cookies are done?


The cooking of the crinkle cookies cannot be said by look of it. Cookies can be overdone within minutes.The crinkle cookies are done when the top crack open and when you touch lightly in the center no imprints remain.
